DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues and Friends\,\n\nOn behalf of the European Acad
 emy of Neurology and the Netherlands Society of Neurology\, we are pleased
  to invite you to the 3rd Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (E
 AN) taking place in Amsterdam from June 24 to 27\, 2017.\n\nThese are exci
 ting times for Neurology. New diseases are being defined\, new procedures 
 are developed and introduced in clinical practice resulting in more accura
 te diagnosis\, complex disease mechanisms are more and more unravelled\, a
 nd current treatment options are extending. Parallel to all these developm
 ents also new challenges are encountered in the search for understanding\,
  preserving and repairing the nervous system. These and other topics will 
 be addressed by leading international experts in the different neurologica
 l fields. And all will take place in a magnificent town!\nThis 3rd EAN Con
 gress will bring together thousands of scientists and clinicians from all 
 over Europe and the rest of the world. The Programme Committee has prepare
 d an outstanding programme with high quality scientific sessions meeting t
 he hot spots of development and attractive teaching courses covering topic
 s which are most important for the practising neurologist.\n\nAmsterdam is
  a great choice for this 3rd EAN Congress. Its name is derived from Amstel
 lerdam\, indicative of the city’s origin: a dam in the river Amstel. Set
 tled as a small fishing village in the late 12th century\, Amsterdam becam
 e one of the most important ports in the world during the 17th century\, t
 he Dutch Golden Age\, a result of its innovative developments in trade. Si
 nce then\, it has been a leading trading and cultural city\, where art\, c
 ommerce\, creativity and tolerance are guiding principles. We hope that yo
 u will take time to explore the city and its many attractions: the histori
 c canals\, the Rijksmuseum\, van Gogh Museum\, Stedelijk Museum\, Hermitag
 e Amsterdam\, Anne Frank House\, the restored facades of historic building
 s representing all periods in its history\, as well as the many markets an
 d shops.\n\nWe are looking forward to welcoming you in Amsterdam in 2017.
