SUMMARY:38th Charing Cross Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Charing Cross Symposium (CX)\, first took place in 1978 at 
 Charing Cross Hospital\, Hammersmith\, London and has by now become the lo
 ngest running vascular and endovascular symposium in Europe and one of the
  largest in the world.\n\nLondon (UK) has been the host city of CX ever si
 nce. Until 1998\, the symposium was held at Charing Cross Hospital\, and b
 etween 1999 and 2012 at Imperial College. In 2013\, it moved to National H
 all\, Olympia\, and in 2014 to Olympia Grand.\n\nThe first CX had 100 atte
 ndees. In 2015\, the Charing Cross Symposium – Controversies Update had 
 a record number of 4\,367 participants\, from 79 countries\, making it a l
 eading global event.\nCX mission\nThe Charing Cross Symposium raises vasc
 ular and endovascular controversies so that a world-class faculty challen
 ges the available evidence in order to reach a consensus after discussio
 n with an expert audience. This forms a three-year cycle. Challenges will
  be discussed in 2016.\nCX programme and format\nAll Charing Cross Symposi
 a are distinguished by a unique and logical programme\, which focuses on 
 identifying evidence for optimal vascular disease management from head t
 o toe\, catering for all vascular specialists.\n\nDebate and emphasis on 
 interaction with an expert audience are key aspects of the CX’s style.
  Education\, Innovation and Evidence are CX core values.\n\nShort present
 ations and time keeping are key characteristics of the CX sessions\; the
 se enable the right time for comments and questions by the audience.\n\nA
 t the sessions\, there is a chaiman who monitors time\, encourages audien
 ce and speaker interaction and conducts the discussion\; there is also a
  moderator who assists the chair with questions to and from the audience
