DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, dear Friends\,\n\nOn behalf of the European A
 ssociation of Nuclear Medicine\, it is my great pleasure and honour to cor
 dially invite you to the 30th Annual EANM Congress in Vienna\, Austria in 
 October 2017. Over the 30 years since our first congress\, nuclear medicin
 e has made significant strides. Overall usage of nuclear medicine procedur
 es is expanding rapidly\, and this trend is especially evident with respec
 t to new imaging technologies.\n\nWe can affirm that the revolution of tom
 ographic hybrid imaging within the nuclear medicine landscape is now a mat
 ter of fact\, spurred by evidence-based medicine. Our discipline’s next 
 step is the integration of genome-specific targeted theranostics\, utilisi
 ng in vivo whole-body assessment of tissue morphology\, physiology and bio
 chemistry. The ultimate goal is to design personalised\, super-selective t
 herapies and to identify more precise means of monitoring response to trea
 tment in routine clinical practice.\n\nThe annual EANM Congress has become
  the world-leading meeting in nuclear medicine. In order to maintain the h
 igh level of excellence of our Congress\, the 2017 meeting will build on t
 he traditions that are highly appreciated by all attendees\, with expansio
 n of the newer features introduced by the former Congress Chair. A specifi
 c educational track\, implemented in collaboration with the European Schoo
 l of Multimodality Imaging and Therapy\, will include up-to-date Teaching 
 Sessions\, enriched by Pitfalls &amp\; Artefacts and Continuous Medical Ed
 ucation (CME) sessions. In all these “active learning” sessions\, atte
 ndees will have the possibility to enhance their knowledge of multimodalit
 y imaging. With similar pedagogic intent\, numerous multidisciplinary join
 t symposia organised by EANM Committees and our sister societies will offe
 r an integrative approach to various topics relevant to the state of the a
 rt in our discipline. I take this opportunity to make a special appeal to 
 young specialists: please join in and benefit from these academic sessions
 . You represent the future of our discipline and it is you who should begi
 n to shape your knowledge in ways that will contribute to a brighter tomor
 row for our community!\n\nAll these learning sessions will not impact adve
 rsely on the predominant role of the entire Congress\, which is to enable 
 the presentation of oral papers and posters about the latest achievements 
 in clinical nuclear medicine\, science and technology. On the contrary\, t
 he Rapid Fire sessions\, for example\, will be enriched. The spirit of suc
 h sessions is to draw attention to the most highly rated abstracts in spec
 ific areas: a panel of top-level presentations is followed by extensive di
 scussions\, providing attendees with an integrated and coherent view on a 
 wide variety of topics. Furthermore\, featured oral sessions with one invi
 ted speaker in combination with “regular” presentations will broaden t
 he perspectives on all topics. The now well-established tracks M2M – Mol
 ecule to Man (basic and translational science) and Do.MoRe (radionuclide t
 herapy and dosimetry) will promote high-quality research through interacti
 on between basic and translational clinical scientists and allow presentat
 ion of the latest achievements and developments in the fields of clinical 
 molecular imaging and nuclear medicine therapy. During the plenary lecture
 s\, distinguished speakers will address state of the art science together 
 with new developments in clinical and allied sciences\, covering a broad r
 ange of topics with the goal of promoting the best possible care for our p
 atients. At the end of the meeting\, two eminent lecturers\, Prof. Stefano
  Fanti from Bologna\, Italy and Prof. Clemens Decristoforo from Innsbruck\
 , Austria will present the traditional Highlights Lecture.\n\nThe Congress
  will take place in Vienna\, Austria\, where the EANM Executive Office is 
 also based. The city – located in the heart of Europe\, on the banks of 
 the river Danube – is world famous for its imperial heritage\, its cultu
 ral attractions and its culinary highlights. To quote the slogan of the ci
 ty: Vienna awaits you!\n\nFor all these reasons\, I cordially invite you t
 o the EANM’17 Congress and to actively participate in our 30th anniversa
 ry. Meet and interact with friends and colleagues from all over the world\
