Rudolf Virchow\, the founder of modern pathology\ , was the prototype of a researcher accomplishing a close interaction betw een social politics and molecular research which is nowadays still critica l for establishing a successful treatment and prevention of complex disord ers such as diabetes mellitus. The EASD Annual Meeting promises to offer e xciting insights into the most recent research findings in all aspects of diabetology.\n\nBerlin mirrors the most important recent political develop ments in the western world which have transformed it into a truly internat ional city with extraordinary architecture\, uniting historical buildings with contemporary design. Berlin’s vivid\, young and experimental spirit has attracted an active art scene.\n\nThe Annual Meeting will take place at the Messe Berlin Exhibition Halls in Berlin-Charlottenburg which are ea sily accessible by public transport. It will commence with the Opening Cer emony on the morning of Tuesday\, 2 October. The meeting will end on Frida y\, 5 October with the Closing Ceremony followed by the Farewell Reception .
