This is a unique opportunity since the ESGAR Annu al Meeting has never been hosted in Rome before and late spring is one of the best periods of the year to visit the city.\n\nThe ESGAR Annual Meetin g has grown enormously since its first edition in 1990 and it is today the reference congress of European abdominal radiology. The reasons for its s uccess are to be found in the special flavour of the meeting\, a combinati on of education and science\, innovation and clinical practice\, experienc e of the old masters and exuberance of the young speakers. The Annual Meet ing has always been an opportunity for society members to meet old colleag ues and friends\, exchange opinions and keep abreast of the latest advance s. For occasional attendees\, it offers the opportunity to be updated on a bdominal radiology experiencing different learning modalities (including l ecture sessions\, tutorials\, hands-on workshops) in a friendly atmosphere . For the young radiologists\, the meeting represents the occasion to get together and create a network of relationships that is increasingly indisp ensable for the profession of the future. For the industry\, it is a showc ase in front of which about two thousand participants will stop.\n\nRome\, “the eternal city”\, needs no introduction. Rome is an open-air museu m\, where you can come across a Roman ruin\, a Renaissance church or a Bar oque palace at every corner. When walking from the Palatine hill\, the Col osseum and the Roman Forum to the Vatican City you can travel through two thousand years of history within only a few minutes. But Rome offers not o nly antiquities: restaurants proposing Italian and regional roman cuisine\ , shopping for all budgets\, relaxing walks in the numerous city parks and much more.\n\nThe new Convention Center\, “The Cloud”\, was inaugurat ed in 2016. Designed by the renowned award-winning architect Massimiliano Fuksas\, the complex follows the simple orthogonal lines of the surroundin g 1930s rationalist architecture. “The Cloud” comprises two distinct a rchitectural concepts: “The Theca” and “The Cloud”. “The Theca ” is the stunning glass and metal outer shell and façade of the Convent ion Center. Suspended inside is “The Cloud”\, an independent cocoon-li ke structure\, covered with a high-tech fiberglass membrane\, in which an auditorium with the capacity of 1800 participants can be found. The Conven tion Center is located in the south of the city’s downtown\, in the busi ness district of EUR.
