 er world due internet\, digital innovations and social media. However acqu
 iring knowledge is not complete without the live interactions of your teac
 hers\, colleagues and representatives of new technology. Once every two ye
 ars the highlight of European ophthalmology is celebrated during the SOE C
 ongress.\n\nI am excited to announce Barcelona as the venue of the SOE 201
 7 Congress\, the next European Congress of Ophthalmology on 10 -13 June\, 
 2017. A selection of the best lecturers in the world will share every conc
 eivable aspect of ophthalmology and the most recent state-of-art equipment
  and devices will be on display at the exhibition. At the SOE 2017 Congres
 s you will be able to meet with your friends and to make new acquaintances
  from some of the 150 countries worldwide which will be represented in Bar
 celona.\n\nThe charming harbor city is easily accessible from all parts of
  the world.\nAs a former Olympic site this vibrant international city is v
 isited by more than 8 million people every year. For four days in June 201
 7 we will make Barcelona the focal point of European ophthalmology and we 
 expect nearly every tenth European ophthalmologist to attend the meeting.\
 n\nThere is so much more to Barcelona than Paella\, Sangria and Tapas. Ind
 eed\, we will treat you with a huge buffet featuring a wide range of ophth
 almology dishes. This will no doubt serve as some serious food for thought
