On behalf of the general board of the European Academy of Childhood Disability (EACD) I am pleased to invite you for the 29th annual meeting from the 17th till 20th of May 2017, in RAI Convention Centre in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
The EACD annual meeting is a leading multidisciplinary meeting in the field of pediatric rehabilitation for children with a disability, like cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, spina bifida, autism, develop-mental coordination disorder, genetic and metabolic diseases. It is an opportunity to meet colleagues:
pediatricians, pediatric neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, physiatrists, pediatric physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and other paramedical professionals, psychosocial, orthopedagogical and technical professions in the field of pediatric rehabilitation, concerning patient care and scientific research. Also, parents/client organizations are involved in the conference. About 700 participants are expected from most countries in Europe, but also from the Middle East, USA, Canada and Australia.
The theme of the conference will be:
“Steps into the future”, focusing new developments in the field of pediatric rehabilitation. Themes of the conference will be clinical use of movement analysis, long term effects of treatment, physical activity and fitness, assistive technology, development of data registers and organization of health care, family focused intervention, participation and autonomy in a life-long perspective. These themes are overarching for the different diagnosis groups.
RAI Convention Centre is a recently renovated modern convention center with sufficient possibilities for exhibitions, integrated in the conference venue. The airport Schiphol is nearby, with an excellent connection by public transportation. Schiphol has direct flights to most of the European cities and to many destinations in the USA, Middle East and Asia. The historic city of Amsterdam offers an excellent environment for a social program in a relaxing atmosphere.
